Halloween

Happy Halloween, friends!

I hope you are having a wonderful night filled with pumpkin-flavored-everything, horror movies, candy, a lit fireplace and a warm mug of apple cider at hand. No? Hmm, well that sounds an awful lot like how a couple of friends and I spent our halloween night.
Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. I love breaking out the Halloween-themed vinyl and carving pumpkins. Fall is no doubt one of the best seasons, can't believe it's already November!

Happy last day of October!

Sylvia Plath

Happy Birthday to Sylvia Plath - a beautiful poet who encompasses what it means to be a lover of words and all the potential they hold.  One of my favorite quotes from her novel The Bell Jar:

“When they asked me what I wanted to be I said I didn’t know.”

“Oh, sure you know,” the photographer said.

“She wants,” said Jay Cee wittily, “to be everything.”

Michigan Highlights

A few weeks ago, my Mom and I took a girls weekend trip to Holland and Kalamazoo, Michigan. On the trip we were able to checkout a few local antique stores, relax at a collection of small coffee shops, start Gilmore Girls on Netflix and enjoy the beautiful colors of Michigan in the fall. Also, I got a crate! As random as it may sound, on our way out of Holland, we spotted a tiny antique store on the street corner with crates outside, and of course we had to stop, check it out and leave with a crate..
While we were in Kalamzoo we stayed at a Bed and Breakfast built in 1886. The beautiful Victorian home was filled with vintage photographs, antique furniture and of course large and amazing windows. Hopefully I'll get a chance to edit and post more shots from this trip soon - keep an eye out!

Enjoy your Sunday night and have a wonderful week

Summer Throwback

Surprise! Throwback Thursday - Some shots from the fair this summer. The ferris wheel, deep fried cookie dough, monkey dog races, just a few things that make the fair so wonderful! The best time to go is right as the sun is setting and the lights of the ferris wheel and all the individual carnival game stalls begin to illuminate the sky. My favorite is watching the ferris wheel change patterns and colors continuously. Definitely missing summer right about now. Happy Thursday!

Highlights from the Week

Just a few highlights from last week. Started the week off with a lunch date at Maggianos with the lovely Tara. Then began the weekend hitting up a few thrift stores with Sasha.  I found a pair of jean overalls - woohoo! And she found countless comfy sweaters.  Saturday afternoon we celebrated halloween a bit early and visited a "haunted" gate (more photos soon to come!) Sunday afternoon we stopped by the beach. Overall it was a fun and beautiful fall weekend!

And just because, I'd like to share this beautiful quote of the week, shared with me on Friday from my photo teacher - "We feel things differently accordingly as we are sleepy or awake, hungry or full, fresh or tired; differently at night and in the morning, differently in summer and in winter; and above all, differently in childhood, manhood, and old age." courtesy of William James.

Enjoy this wonderful fall week!

Triptych

Came across these digital shots from my "triptych" project. These were taken at a fun local antique mall. There were endless rows of mason jars and antique plates everywhere. Definitely one of my favorite places to shoot. Looking forward to uploading some black and white scans from the same day!
